Serres becomes the sponsor of figure skater Valtter Virtanen
Virtanen is set to take part in the 2019 World Figure Skating Championships in Japan this month.
HELSINKI, Finland, March 8, 2019 — Serres is happy to announce a sponsorship deal with Valtter Virtanen, a Finnish physician and figure skater. The World Championships are Virtanen’s, 31, third appearance on the world stage. He is a five-time Finnish champion and has also skated in seven European Championships. Virtanen‘s top achievement from the European ice is 18th place from 2015. Serres, the progressive leader in smart fluid management solutions around suction for healthcare facilities, is a part of Serres Group.

He is a doctor with a PhD in pediatric surgery, and as such a natural fit for us to sponsor. We admire the way he combines two highly demanding disciplines: medical practice and figure skating. Virtanen represents Jyväskylän Taitoluisteluseura for skating. He resides and trains currently in Oberstdorf, Germany, and works part of the time as a doctor in the Central Finland Central Hospital in Jyväskylä.
“My goal for the Championships is to make it into the Top 24 and reach the final stage”, Virtanen says. “Last season was probably the best one in my career and I’m enjoying skating a lot right now. It was fantastic that Serres was keen to sponsor me. I contacted Juha and arranged to meet at the airport as I was flying back to Germany. We discussed the possible forms of sponsorship and soon agreed to get things going right away - so we’ve had a great and a very dynamic start to our co-operation!”
The 2019 World Figure Skating Championships are held in Saitama, Japan between 18 and 24 March.
