Commitment to sustainability
By 2040, we aim to achieve net-zero carbon
emissions in our operations without
compromising patient safety.
Our Sustainability Roadmap provides a practical framework for steering short- and long-term sustainability work with clear focus areas, targets, and concrete actions.

Sustainable product innovation
Our innovation drivers include
- Reducing the amount of materials used in products and packaging
- Investigating and implementing recycled and renewable raw material sources in development
- Making it possible for our product packaging materials to be recycled at the end of their life cycle

Circular Economy Center of Excellence
In 2023, Serres and its sister companies launched a Circular Economy Center of Excellence to drive waste reduction, increase recycled content in products and packaging, and improve end-of-life recyclability.
We also have dedicated sustainability teams at both manufacturing sites in Finland.

Serres Suction bags: sustainable by design
The Serres Suction bag maximizes material efficiency with its ultra-thin and lightweight, yet highly durable design – allowing for four times more suction bags per box compared to similar products.

Sustainable packaging material
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through smarter packaging and efficient use of materials.
The Serres Sylva® Suction bag packaging is made from up to 90% recycled fibers, making it fully compatible with existing recycling streams.

Carbon footprint calculation of a 2l Serres Suction bag
To understand and reduce our environmental impact, we went on a journey to evaluate the carbon footprint of our 2l Serres Suction bag’s entire life cycle. This case is a cradle-to-gate calculation from Serres factory at Kauhajoki to Rotterdam hospital in the Netherlands.
